Morning Matters

Manila is beautiful at 5:00 in the morning. When 2016 started, one of my resolutions was to sleep earlier and wake up earlier. I would go to bed at 10:00 PM and wake up at 5:00 AM before anyone else in the house was up. Those few hours spent by myself made my days slower and more focused – and I totally loved it. Of course, as the weeks passed, life got in the way of my morning routine and it has been so long since I got to have that perfectly placed seven hours of sleep. But, that’s fine.

Preparing for this talk made me realize that I have been so hard on myself these past months. And that I have not stopped to look back and realize that hey, I have grown a lot. But sharing these things to people who are just starting out made me realize that despite all the mistakes I made in the past five years… I did one thing right – I didn’t stop doing what I loved doing. :)

One of the biggest struggles in maintaining a creative business is not having people to talk to about the struggles of maintaining a creative business. Haha. To be perfectly honest, I don’t know that much about it. It’s something I constantly have to learn up until now. So today’s talk on The Business of Being Creative was basically a dream come true for me. It’s about time creatives start making seminars on the not-so-artsy parts of their craft.

The college was filled with crepe paper strips, cute signages, colored strings, handmade string balls, paper cranes and we had good music playing all week! Which leads me to the reason for writing… Details Ink was also there for all four days. Haha. We had several art concessionaires lined up along our walkway and honestly, I wish it could be that way every single day.

I remember posting that video of my brother’s wall, saying “Please support my wall mural artist dreams!” so, I’m really excited about the next walls I have lined up! Still a secret for now but, I hope to still be able to make people really happy with my work.
